The Battle of Cantigny was the first significant battle fought and won by Americans in World War I. Its success boosted allied morale and revived hope that the German tide could be turned. It also marked one of Colonel Robert Rutherford McCormick's most defining moments in his life. Once McCormick returned from war, he rename his Red Oaks Estate Cantigny. Don't miss this opportunity to visit Cantigny Park in Wheaton where you will take a guided tour of the Robert r. McCormick Mansion, as well as tour the First Division Museum and walk through the flower gardens that cover about 40 acres. A van will pick participants up at the Little White School Museum at 9:30 AM. Prior to returning to the museum, lunch will be provided at Fox Bend's Pearce's Restaurant. The van will return to the museum around 2:00 PM. Registration is required through the Oswegoland Park District either by telephone or online. |
