All volunteers are required to pass a criminal background check. | Description: The position of Trades Specialist is responsible for assisting in projects as they relate to carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical and concrete maintenance and construction. | | Responsibilities: Duties include the ability to provide preventative maintenance as well as handle a variety of rough and finished carpentry and general building construction projects for Park District buildings and grounds. The construction duties include plastering, painting, drywall, flooring, masonry, concrete flat work, equipment installations to include fences and bridges. At times you will lead a crew on specific projects giving direction, advising and answering questions. | | Qualifications: The qualified candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years of age with five (5) years of experience in related property and facility maintenance and repairs.
Must have working knowledge of tools, power equipment and shop practices.
Must become certified in chain saw use.
In addition, you’ll need three (3) years of specialization in the area of carpentry or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. You must have a good working knowledge of all carpentry, woodworking and shop practices as well as knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and concrete maintenance and construction.
You must be able to lift 50 pounds. You must hold a valid Drivers license and be able to speak, write and read in English.
